On "Time"

On: "Time"

My partner lost her mother recently (I lost mine long ago... well, 8 years long) and a gamut of emotions, most of which "unpleasant", are being experienced around and within me at the moment.

But I'm reminded of ancient notions of the inter-changeability of time, change and death.

This power, often depicted as a lion, girded by a coiled serpent (itself symbolic of cycles) was purported to be an all consuming, fiery beast devouring all that which is mortal and finite. But there is more to it (All) than that.

Time can't touch the timeless within us... change can't reach our never changing essence and death is a projection of our deathless Selves.

Consciously harmonizing with the unchanging, timeless, deathless aspects of ourselves is the essence of Higher Activation.

Cycles

Cosmic cycles have been of greatest importance throughout history to farmers and "pagans".

Measured by calendars and clocks, this "time" dictates when to plough the fields and reap the harvest. Biological and social functions, (like ovulation and sleep... including hibernation) seem governed by celestial cycles... periodic changes in our cosmic environment.

Besides this "objective" time, there is an individual, psychological time.

The renowned philosopher and astrologer Dane Rudhyard calls this subjective duration and says "It is experienced as normally unconscious, organic psychic feeling [which] eludes standardization, depending as it does upon the more or less individualized rhythm of the experiencer... resultant of the state of organic wholeness.

Techniques have been devised to deliberately induce and accelerate a development of conscious realization of individualized time... a development achieved by the control of "organic" energies and by "a refocusing of the ego." These techniques, the ancient basis of all authentic religion were for the "discovery of one's own individual structure of being".

Immortality

When ancient records are unearthed by archeologist, it has been common practice for Egyptologists and other historians to examine the artifacts, but it took investigations by psychologists to reveal what was really significant.

It appears that the fiery power depicted by the loin / serpent symbology of old, universally acknowledged as a time symbol, was just as universally considered a "psychological" power, accessible via various forms of meditation. This power, called "kundalini" in it's psycho-biological form was said to be able to "uplift" consciousness to a level where the "structure" of individualized time became conscious. It is this structure which forms the basis of individualized immortality.

Rudhyard hypothesized that "immortality is the power to dwell in a world of one's own individual making, and to hold the structure of that world intact (and one's creative thought-powers firmly established within it), even against the shock of the disintegration of the biological organism, which we call death. Immortality is the victory of subjective duration over objective time.

"I define individual identity as the capacity in an organism to retain its unique and individual structure of selfhood and to perpetuate it... Immortality becomes an actual fact if the individual person is able to retain the full consciousness and structure of his own individual identity even after death disintegrates the physical organism; and to that end all spiritual practices have originally been devised". -- Dane Rudhyard

Historian and researcher Kenneth Demarest interprets the unearthed records as implying the "higher consciousness-energy" could itself "form the immortal body of the celebrant". And again, "The aim and process of alchemy [was] nothing less than the attainment of individualized immortal life on the part of man".

Philosopher and mathematician Charles Muses in "Consciousness and Reality", quoting Proclus (412-185 A.D.) from Platonic Theology sites, "Only the uniting with a higher consciousness bestows the successful completion of processes of the spirit that go beyond reasoning". And further, "Such means unite our normal consciousness with one more divine".

Muses goes on with, "The religion of the eternal life-fire, the immortalizing power, was the original religion of mankind, and individual immortality and the rescue or resurrection from , or regeneration of the mortal body was a prime tenent, leading to the attainment of god-hood".

The learned agree that if this "state" is attainable at all, it would behoove all of us to learn and accelerate the realization of the immortal body before we really need it.

Rest in peace Joyce and Bettye Joyce.
